A youth from Madhupada village under Rajkanika police limits went missing near the Baitarani river bridge in Chandabali, sparking intense search operations and widespread concern.
The missing youth, identified as Jayarath Mallik, disappeared on Tuesday night. On Wednesday morning, locals discovered his shoes and mobile phone lying on the Gamon bridge, but he was nowhere to be found. Authorities suspect he may have jumped into the river, though other possibilities remain under investigation.
Fire service personnel launched a vigorous search in the river, diving and combing the waters to trace the missing youth. The discovery of personal belongings on the bridge triggered panic among villagers, who gathered at the site as the search continued.
Police officials confirmed that they are exploring multiple angles, including suicide and foul play. The administration remains cautious, acknowledging uncertainty about whether Jayarath deliberately jumped into the river or if another factor led to his disappearance.
