Shock gripped Keonjhar district after locals discovered the mutilated body of an unidentified youth inside a trench in the forest near Phulwadi Mundasahi playground under Bhadrasahi Panchayat, Barbil police limits.
Residents alerted Barbil police, who reached the site and began an investigation. Officers found multiple injury marks on the body, suggesting a violent attack. Preliminary inquiry indicated that the youth may have been murdered near the playground and dragged about 30 meters before being dumped in the trench.
Police recovered a beer can and cash from the scene, treating them as potential evidence. Investigators suspect the victim was bludgeoned with stones. Forensic experts were called to collect samples and examine the crime scene.
Champua SDPO and Barbil IIC supervised the investigation, focusing on identifying the deceased and uncovering the motive behind the suspected murder. Authorities cordoned off the area and assured that the truth will emerge after forensic analysis.
