An 11-year-old girl was allegedly raped by a local youth in a village under the Golanthara police limits in Odisha’s Ganjam district.
The incident, which occurred just days after the previous assault, made headlines across the state, intensified community outrage and raised fresh questions about the safety of minors in the region.
According to police reports, the accused, hailing from the same locality, allegedly lured the minor girl out of her home and committed the act in a secluded area. The victim’s family lodged a formal complaint, following which the police acted swiftly to arrest the suspect.
Medical examinations of both the survivor and the accused have been completed, and legal proceedings are underway. The accused is slated to be produced in court today.
