Police rescued five migrant workers and three minors while intercepting a Bolero vehicle near Hatibandha Four-Way Road, arresting the sardar involved in trafficking them to Hyderabad.
Police identified the arrested sardar as Mohan Chhatria from Barapadar village under Sinapali police station. The rescued workers included Padman Harpal (36), Mahadev Bag (45), Pustam Bagarti (35), Manjulata Harpal (32), and Suphal Bag (36), along with three minors. The seized Bolero carried registration number OD 16 4280.
Reports confirmed that on Wednesday evening, around 7 pm, Sinapali police led by Inspector Durgamadhab Bag conducted routine patrolling. During the operation, they noticed suspicious activity near a roadside dhaba. The sardar had brought the workers in the Bolero and was waiting to board them onto a bus bound for Hyderabad.
Police immediately intervened, rescued the workers, and seized the vehicle. They arrested the sardar and took him to the Sinapali police station for questioning. After interrogation, the police released the rescued workers to their families while forwarding the sardar to court.
Authorities registered case number 354/25 at the Sinapali police station. The operation involved Inspector Durgamadhab Bag, SI Sahadev Joshi, Constable Kshetra Saraf, Havildar Abhiram Ghivela, and other police personnel.
