An MBA student was found dead in her hostel room in Chandrasekharpur, Bhubaneswar, on Monday.
Police said she used her scarf to hang herself inside the room.
The deceased hailed from Dhenkanal district and studied at a management college in Chandrasekharpur. Authorities have not yet released her name or personal details.
Reports indicated that hostel mates discovered her hanging and immediately informed the police. Infocity police reached the spot and registered a case of unnatural death. Officers seized her mobile phone, laptop, and other belongings for investigation. They also questioned her roommates to determine whether she had contacted anyone before the incident.
Police sent the body to Capital Hospital for a post-mortem. Officials said the cause of death remains unclear. Investigators are examining whether she faced mental stress or if other factors contributed to the tragedy.
Family members are expected to arrive soon. Police stated that further action will depend on any complaint filed by the family.
