A shocking case of hostel violence has come to light, raising serious concerns over the safety of students in Mayurbhanj district.
A Class 6 tribal student was allegedly tied up, mercilessly beaten, had his hand cut with a blade, and salt rubbed on his wounds. The perpetrators, senior hostel inmates, reportedly targeted the victim after he reported their drinking habits to the headmaster.
The incident occurred in February, yet school authorities failed to inform the victim’s parents at the time. Once the boy shared his ordeal with his parents, they lodged a complaint at Khunta Police Station. The investigation is underway.
Parents and locals are outraged by the school’s negligence and have demanded strict action against the accused students and accountability from the administration. The police assured that appropriate measures would be taken against those found guilty.
This tragic episode underscores the urgent need for improved safety protocols in hostels and prompt action against abuse.
