Manush Shah and Diya Chitale have etched their names in the annals of Indian table tennis by clinching the Mixed Doubles title at the prestigious WTT Contender Tunisia 2025.
The dynamic duo triumphed over Japan’s Sora Matsushima and Miwa Harimoto in a thrilling five-game final, prevailing 11-9, 5-11, 14-12, 3-11, 11-6.
Their road to the final was equally impressive, with a straight-game victory in the semifinals against the Tunisian-Egyptian pair of Wassim Essid and Hana Godawhere. The third-seeded Indian pair displayed remarkable synergy and resilience throughout the tournament.
In other events, Manush Shah partnered with Manav Thakkar to reach the Men’s Doubles semifinals, where they narrowly lost to Germany’s Benedikt Duda and Andre Bertelsmeier. Diya Chitale, who qualified for the singles category, advanced to the Round of 16 but faced defeat against Germany’s Sabine Winter. Meanwhile, Harmeet Desai also bowed out in the Round of 16, losing to Japan’s Hiroto Shinozuka.
This stellar performance by Manush and Diya has elevated India’s stature on the international table tennis stage and is sure to inspire young talents back home.
