A tragic road accident in Kalahandi district claimed the lives of an uncle and his nephew on Monday morning.
The incident occurred near Budipada Square in Junagarh block when an unidentified pickup truck rammed into their motorcycle.
The victims, identified as Mukesh Nag (18) of Chikli village and Mahendra Naik (13) of Matigaon, were travelling towards Junagarh on a bike bearing registration number OD10BV 7112. Eyewitnesses reported that the speeding pickup struck the motorcycle with force, causing both riders to fall and die instantly at the scene.
The driver of the pickup fled immediately after the collision, abandoning the vehicle and leaving the victims without assistance. Local residents rushed to the spot but found both victims lifeless. The sudden accident shocked the community, as the two young lives ended abruptly during a routine journey.
Police from Junagarh station reached the site soon after receiving information. Officers began an investigation to trace the vehicle and identify the driver responsible for the fatal crash. Authorities confirmed that the pickup escaped from the scene, and efforts are underway to track it down.
Family members of the deceased expressed grief and demanded strict action against the offender.
