The National Investigation Agency team visited Capital Hospital in Bhubaneswar on Tuesday to gather details about those injured in the Azad Nagar bomb blast.
Officials interacted with hospital authorities to collect medical records and information about the condition of victims admitted after the explosion.
Sources confirmed that the NIA took charge of the probe following the blast in Azad Nagar. The explosion occurred while the accused Shehenwaz Mallik, alias Mufi, attempted to assemble a bomb inside a rented house with his associates, mother, and partner. The device, reportedly packed with RDX, detonated accidentally, killing Mufi and his mother while injuring others.
Investigators believe the bomb was intended for a religious gathering in Jatani. The NIA has already visited the Airfield police station and the blast site, collecting forensic evidence. On Tuesday, the team examined hospital records to verify the condition of those admitted and identify who accompanied them during treatment.
Officials also requested CCTV footage from the day of the incident. The probe aims to establish the network behind the blast and confirm the use of explosives.
