Bhubaneswar: The Commissionerate Police have arrested a person for allegedly duping Rs 40 lakh from engineering aspirants on the pretext of admission into inter-state colleges.
The arrestee has been identified as Sumit Kumar Biswal, a resident of Narayan Patna in Jajpur district.
According to available information, the accused turned off the phone after taking the admission amount from the aspirants in the year 2020. Following this, four different complaints were filed against the accused at the Lingaraj police station.
However, Sumit managed to escape from the clutch of the police. Later, DCP- Umashankar Das handed over the case to the Special squad team.
After pertinent efforts, a team led by the squad in charge- Sanjay Satpathy nabbed the inter-state fraudster from Jajpur.
Later, the accused has been forwarded to court, officials informed.
