Rajgangpur police arrested a man transporting beef on a scooter near Azad Road today.
Acting on a tip-off, SI Arun Kumar Behera intercepted MD Rizwan, 45, son of MD Hasan, while he rode scooter OD 16E 6065. Police discovered nearly 30 kilograms of beef hidden in the vehicle.
Investigators confirmed Rizwan was bringing the meat from Khatakudi Bahal in Kutra block to Rajgangpur. He admitted he intended to sell the beef at a hotel near Azad Road. Police seized the meat and took him into custody.
Authorities revealed they had received repeated complaints about beef being smuggled daily from Khatakudi Bahal to Rajgangpur. Today’s operation followed surveillance in Kukuda village, where SI Behera spotted Rizwan and grew suspicious.
Police registered the case, arrested the accused, and forwarded him to court. Officials stated they will intensify monitoring to curb illegal beef trade in the region.
