Punjab: A man in Punjab’s Hoshiarpur today broke the security barrier and came very close to Rahul Gandhi during his walk at the Bharat Jodo Yatra on Tuesday morning.

In a video posted by journalist Ishtkam Pandey, a man is seen running towards Rahul Gandhi and trying to hug the Congress leader.

As soon as he reaches very close to Gandhi, he is pushed away by the leader and his security.

The incident comes weeks after the Congress accused the Central Reserve Police Force (CRPF), tasked with providing the inner cordon of Rahul Gandhi’s Z-plus category security, of major lapses during Bharat Jodo Yatra.

The Bharat Jodo Yatra resumed its journey in Hoshiarpur’s Tanda on Tuesday morning. Senior leaders of the party, including its Punjab chief Amrinder Singh Raja Warring, Harish Chaudhary and Raj Kumar Chabbewal, were seen accompanying Gandhi during the yatra.

The 52-year-old Congress leader is set to hoist the national flag in Banihal in the Ramban disrict of Jammu and Kashmir on January 25, and is scheduled to enter Srinagar via Anantnag two days later – on January 27.
