The Pradhan Mantri Matru Vandana Yojana will be co-branded and implemented alongside the Mamata Yojana in the state.
Under this initiative, pregnant women will receive an additional ₹2,000 per year for the birth of a girl child.
“Chief Minister Mohan Charan Majhi has made this decision to enhance the health of pregnant and postpartum women and to encourage the birth of girl children,” the CMO said in a press note.
In this scheme, families will receive ₹10,000 for the birth of a boy child. However, for girl children, the amount will increase from ₹10,000 to ₹12,000 in the joint scheme. Assistance will be provided for a maximum of two children, but this limit will not apply to Particularly Vulnerable Tribal Groups (PVTGs).
Also, Anganwadi workers assisting with the program will see their compensation rise from ₹200 to ₹250, while Anganwadi helpers will receive ₹150 instead of ₹50.
The estimated cost for the combined implementation of both schemes is approximately ₹511 crore for the next financial year. The central government will contribute ₹115.97 crore, while the state government will provide ₹395.75 crore.
This initiative is expected to benefit around 450,000 pregnant and lactating women.
