Malkangiri Collector Somesh Kumar Upadhyay visited the Banda Ghati region under Khairaput block on Friday, inspecting ongoing development work in Andrahal and Tusipadar villages.
He emphasized the need to improve the overall quality of life in the area and directed officials to take concrete steps to transform Andrahal into a model village.
During the visit, the Collector instructed departments to develop Banda Ghati as a major tourism destination. He also directed the enhancement of the Saru Waterfall, including the construction of a hanging bridge to improve tourist access.
To strengthen facilities for the local Bonda tribal community, the Collector ordered:

Upgradation of village roads

Installation of street lighting

Establishment of a cashew processing unit

Support for livelihood activities related to animal husbandry
He also inspected ongoing work under the PM Janman Yojana, ensuring timely and quality progress.
Later, the Collector visited Ambelibeda and Naringijhola villages under Korukonda block. He stressed the importance of both development and tourism in the region. Ambelibeda village will be planned as a well-developed rural cluster, while Naringijhola will be developed as a tourism hub with facilities such as:

The Collector stated that these initiatives aim to boost local livelihood opportunities while showcasing the natural and cultural heritage of Malkangiri district.
