Mahindra & Mahindra today launched the XUV 3XO ZNG, its first mainstream CNG passenger vehicle, priced from ₹9.99 lakh (ex-showroom). The compact SUV promises “Zero Compromise,” delivering the same turbocharged performance in both CNG and petrol modes while adding lower running costs and practical packaging.
Powered by the 1.2-litre mStallion TCMPFi turbocharged engine, the XUV 3XO ZNG produces 82 kW and a class-leading 200 Nm of torque (among CNG passenger vehicles in India) in either fuel mode. Optimised turbocharger calibration and ECU mapping keep power and torque identical whether the driver chooses CNG or petrol. The result is brisk acceleration: 0-60 km/h in 4.9 seconds and 0-100 km/h in 11.8 seconds in CNG mode. A first-in-segment 10-bar CNG injection pressure system supports responsive performance alongside the certified 24.7 km/kg efficiency.
“The XUV 3XO ZNG comes with a clear promise: Zero Compromise,” said Dr Velusamy R, President, Automotive Business, Mahindra & Mahindra Ltd. “Customers today want the space, technology, safety and driving experience of an SUV, along with the lower running costs of CNG. With category-leading torque, turbocharged performance and impressive efficiency, the XUV 3XO ZNG brings together the practicality of CNG and the excitement of an SUV.”
Practical packaging addresses a common CNG complaint. The twin-cylinder system sits under the luggage area, preserving a flat loading floor and 270 litres of usable boot space; the spare wheel remains underbody-mounted. Automatic switching to petrol when CNG runs low, plus average and instantaneous fuel-economy displays and an NGV fast-filling valve, add everyday convenience.
Safety equipment is standard from the entry MX Edge variant: six airbags, Electronic Stability Control, ISOFIX child-seat mounts, and integrated gas-leak detection that can switch the vehicle to petrol mode. The vehicle is engineered for a 5-star Bharat-NCAP rating, consistent with the existing XUV 3XO platform.
Even the base MX Edge includes a 26.03 cm HD touchscreen, wireless Android Auto and wired Apple CarPlay, cruise control, rear AC vents, and a 60:40 split rear seat. Higher variants add a panoramic Skyroof, twin digital screens, Dolby Atmos audio, black leatherette seats, dual-tone roof, and R16 alloys. Pricing across the four variants is: MX Edge ₹9.99 lakh, REVX Edge (O) ₹10.79 lakh, AX5 ₹11.19 lakh, and REVX A ₹12.27 lakh (all ex-showroom).
