Mumbai: The Maharashtra Cyber Cell has declined YouTuber Samay Raina’s request to record his statement via video conferencing concerning the ongoing ‘India’s Got Latent’ controversy. Raina, currently in the United States, had cited prior commitments preventing his return to India before March 17. Despite this, the Cyber Cell has mandated his in-person appearance on February 18 to provide his statement.
The controversy centers around remarks made by podcaster Ranveer Allahbadia during an episode of ‘India’s Got Latent,’ where he posed an inappropriate question to a contestant. The incident led to multiple complaints against Allahbadia, Raina, and others involved in the show’s production. In response to the backlash, Raina has removed all related videos from his channel and expressed his intention to cooperate fully with the authorities.
Allahbadia has also faced significant public criticism and has reportedly received death threats. He has issued an apology for his remarks and has approached the Supreme Court to consolidate multiple FIRs filed against him across different states.
The Cyber Cell’s insistence on Raina’s physical presence underscores the seriousness with which authorities are treating the matter, emphasizing the importance of personal accountability in such sensitive investigations.
