Meteorologist Sharat Sahu predicted the formation of a low-pressure area over the Bay of Bengal around July 2, which could bring widespread rainfall to Odisha.
Sahu said the system may begin forming on July 2, but rainfall activity will start from June 30 and continue through July 5. He added that the low-pressure zone could intensify further, enhancing monsoon conditions across coastal and interior districts.
According to his forecast, the upcoming system will strengthen the southwest monsoon flow and trigger moderate to heavy rain in several parts of the state. Farmers and residents are advised to prepare for consistent showers during the first week of July.
Weather models indicate that the system may move northwestward, affecting regions including Puri, Bhubaneswar, Cuttack, Balasore, and Koraput. The meteorologist noted that the pattern aligns with typical monsoon behaviour during early July when the Bay of Bengal often generates active weather systems.
