India Rejects Pakistan’s Karachi Attack Allegations, Calls Claims ‘Baseless’

India on Sunday strongly rejected Pakistan’s allegations linking it to the recent terrorist attack on the Pakistan Rangers headquarters in Karachi. New Delhi described the accusations as “baseless” and urged Islamabad to focus on dismantling terror infrastructure operating within its own territory instead of making unsupported claims.

The response came after Pakistani authorities accused India of being behind the deadly assault on the Rangers’ provincial headquarters in Karachi.

MEA Responds to Pakistan’s Allegations

Responding to the accusations, Ministry of External Affairs (MEA) spokesperson Randhir Jaiswal dismissed the claims outright.

“We have seen Pakistani reports making baseless allegations against India regarding the recent incident in Karachi. We categorically reject them,” Jaiswal said.

He further stated that Pakistan should look inward and take credible action against terrorist groups operating from its soil rather than attempting to shift responsibility.

According to the MEA spokesperson, Pakistan should eliminate terror infrastructure and stop relying on terrorism as an instrument of state policy.

What Happened in the Karachi Attack?

The attack took place on Saturday night when terrorists targeted the provincial headquarters of the Pakistan Rangers in Karachi.

According to Pakistani authorities:

  • An explosives-laden vehicle rammed into the Rangers compound.
  • The explosion was followed by a fierce gun battle.
  • Three Pakistan Rangers personnel were killed.
  • Four security personnel sustained injuries.
  • Three terrorists were killed.
  • One suspected attacker, identified as an Afghan national, was captured alive.

Pakistan’s military later confirmed that the security operation ended after neutralising the attackers.

Jamaat-ul-Ahrar Claimed Responsibility

The attack was claimed by Jamaat-ul-Ahrar, a breakaway faction of the banned Tehreek-e-Taliban Pakistan (TTP).

Despite the militant group’s claim of responsibility, Pakistan’s Interior Minister Mohsin Naqvi and military officials alleged that the attackers were acting as an “Indian proxy.” However, no public evidence was presented to support the allegation.

India Urges Pakistan to Focus on Terror Networks

India reiterated that Pakistan should address the presence of terrorist organisations operating from its territory instead of making accusations without proof.

New Delhi also noted that Pakistan has made similar allegations in the past, which India has consistently denied.

The MEA maintained that credible action against terror groups remains essential for regional peace and stability.

Pakistan Vows Retaliation

Following the attack, Pakistan’s military announced that it would retaliate against those responsible.

The incident comes amid heightened security concerns in the region, with Pakistan continuing operations against militant groups. Islamabad has also conducted airstrikes in Afghanistan in recent months, claiming they targeted militants responsible for attacks inside Pakistan.

The Karachi assault has once again highlighted the security challenges facing Pakistan as authorities continue investigations into the attack.
