In a significant update that has brought relief to millions of supporters, former Odisha Chief Minister and Biju Janata Dal (BJD) supremo Naveen Patnaik has been discharged from the hospital in Bhubaneswar following treatment for dehydration.
The 78-year-old leader, who also serves as the Leader of Opposition in the Odisha Assembly, was admitted to SUM Ultimate Medicare on August 17, 2025, after experiencing uneasiness due to dehydration. His discharge late this evening marks a successful recovery.
In a heartfelt video message released on August 18, the seasoned politician expressed gratitude to the medical team and his supporters, stating, “The staff and doctors of the hospital here are taking wonderful care of me. Thank you for your kind wishes. If you want to see me, you are welcome to come to Naveen Niwas.”
This message underscored his imminent return home, a sentiment confirmed today as he was discharged and proceeded directly to his residence, Naveen Niwas, after three days.
