Rail traffic in the Rayagada Division of the East Coast Railway has been severely disrupted following a landslide between the Maligura and Chhatariput stations.
The sudden natural obstruction has prompted railway authorities to immediately regulate train operations, prioritizing passenger safety and urgent track restoration efforts.
With restoration crews currently mobilized at the affected site to clear debris and secure the railway infrastructure, officials have announced a series of crucial service changes spanning from September 26 to September 27, 2026. Commuters traveling on these routes will face significant cancellations, with several long-distance express trains either short-terminated or short-originated to avoid the blocked section.

Passengers relying on direct connectivity between Rourkela, Visakhapatnam, and Kirandul will be directly impacted by the immediate cancellations.

Short-Terminated and Short-Originated Routes
In a bid to maintain partial connectivity while completely avoiding the impacted track segment, railway authorities have adjusted the terminals for major express routes. The transit hub of Koraput will now serve as the temporary originating and terminating point for several trains, with all services specifically between Koraput and Jagdalpur effectively suspended.
- Howrah–Jagdalpur Express (18005): Commenced its journey from Howrah on September 25; will now short-terminate at Koraput.
- Jagdalpur–Howrah Express (18006): Scheduled to depart on September 27; will now short-originate from Koraput.
- Bhubaneswar–Jagdalpur Hirakhand Express (18447): Commenced its journey from Bhubaneswar on September 26; will short-terminate at Koraput.
- Jagdalpur–Bhubaneswar Hirakhand Express (18448): Scheduled to depart on September 27; will short-originate from Koraput.
