A shocking twist has emerged in the death of 22-year-old accountant Tikili Rout from Nayagarh district, who was found hanging in a ladies’ hostel at Unit-3, Kharavel Nagar Industrial Colony on Wednesday.
Initially registered as an unnatural death, the case has now been converted into a murder investigation following allegations by her family.
Police sources revealed that Tikili had sent photographs of herself during the act to her male friend, raising suspicions about her final moments. Her father, Prabhat Rout, lodged a complaint alleging foul play and accusing unknown persons of attempting to shield the accused.
The Kharavel Nagar police have registered Case No. 233/26 under murder charges. After the post-mortem on Thursday, the body was handed over to the family. Investigators suspect Tikili may have shared images or made video calls before her death. Her mobile phone has been sent to a forensic lab for analysis, with police examining call history and financial transactions.
Adding to the mystery, repeated calls from unknown numbers have been received on her mobile after her death. Police, along with a scientific team, are probing whether these calls hold the key to unravelling the truth behind the tragic incident.
