Ram Mandir Trust resignation donation theft

The Ram Mandir Trust has accepted the resignation of its General Secretary, Champat Rai, amid mounting allegations of donation embezzlement.

Trustee Anil Mishra also stepped down during a tense three-hour meeting held inside the Ram Janmabhoomi complex in Ayodhya.

In a swift move to stabilise operations, the Trust appointed Krishna Mohan, a newly inducted trustee, as Interim General Secretary. The reshuffle comes at a critical juncture, as the Trust grapples with public scrutiny and internal dissent following the alleged theft case.

Treasurer Swami Govind Dev Giri acknowledged the gravity of the situation, admitting that the controversy has deeply hurt the organisation’s credibility. The Trust has scheduled another meeting on July 22 to review the Special Investigation Team’s final report and to appoint new trustees and office-bearers.

The resignations mark a significant turning point for the Ram Mandir Trust, which has been at the centre of India’s most high-profile temple project. With the temple’s construction symbolising a historic milestone, the leadership shake-up underscores the need for transparency and accountability in managing donations and public trust.

Observers note that the developments could reshape the Trust’s governance structure, as it seeks to restore confidence among devotees and donors.

The upcoming meeting is expected to set the tone for reforms and reinforce the Trust’s commitment to ethical stewardship.
