KKBN Rahul Committee chief Mamata, the wife of slain Maoist leader Dashru, surrendered before Chhattisgarh police along with her 12‑member team. Authorities confirmed she carried a bounty of Rs 35 lakh on her head.

Mamata, a CPI (Maoist) state committee member, assumed leadership of the KKBN division after Dashru was killed in February 2024. She announced her surrender at a press briefing and urged fellow cadres to abandon armed struggle.

Through an audio message, Mamata appealed to Kondhamal‑based Maoist leaders, including Sukru and Anves,h to surrender before the police. She asked them to contact her through a mobile number and assured them of safety if they laid down arms.

Chhattisgarh police said Mamata’s surrender marked a significant breakthrough in ongoing anti‑Maoist operations. Security forces, including SOG teams, intensified search operations in Karada forest to capture Sukru, who remains active in Kondhamal district.

Meanwhile, the CPI (Maoist) BBM division covering Bolangir, Bargarh, and Mahasamund wrote to Chhattisgarh Home Minister Vijay Sharma expressing willingness to return to the mainstream. The letter stated that 15 armed cadres were ready to surrender in Mahasamund, provided the government guaranteed their safety through a radio announcement.

Home Minister Sharma confirmed receipt of the letter and assured Maoist cadres of protection, rehabilitation, and reintegration. He said the government would ensure not only physical safety but also psychological rehabilitation for those surrendering.
