Kishane Thompson has etched his name into the annals of sprinting history, clocking a sensational 9.75 seconds in the 100m final at the Jamaican national athletics trials.

The electrifying performance not only secured him the gold medal but also positioned him as the sixth-fastest man of all time over the distance.

At just 23, Thompson has now surpassed his own previous best of 9.77s, set in June 2024. His Paris Olympics silver—where he missed the gold by a mere 0.005s to Noah Lyles—already hinted at his potential. Now, with his latest feat, he trails only sprinting greats such as Usain Bolt (9.58), Tyson Gay, Yohan Blake (9.69), Asafa Powell (9.72), and Justin Gatlin (9.74).

Oblique Seville, nursing a tight hamstring, put up a brave show to finish second with 9.83s, while Ackeem Blake secured third in a personal best of 9.88s—rounding off an all-Jamaican podium and reinforcing the island nation’s sprinting supremacy.

As the 2025 season heats up, all eyes will be on Thompson, who continues to break barriers and charge toward greatness with every stride.
