Berhampur: A woman was found dead in the room of a lodge in Berhampur under suspicious circumstances on Sunday.
The incident occurred in a lodge room at Goilundi-Kortpeta road under Baidyanathpur police limits in Berhampur district. The deceased was a resident of Kerala.
According to reports, the woman had come to Berhampur along with her male friend on 19th November for some work at the MKCG hospital. On Saturday when the lodge staff had gone to clean the room, there was no response from the room. Later they found the dead body inside the room. The lodge staff immediately informed the police about this.
On being informed the police reached the spot and seized the body. It is suspected that the woman had died two days ago. Her male friend has absconded from the lodge. However, the reason behind the woman’s death is yet to be ascertained. Further investigation is underway.
