Two Class 7 students tragically drowned in a pond at Khursia Bandhakuda village under Marshaghai police limits in Kendrapara district.
The deceased have been identified as Durga Prasad Mohapatra and Dipanshu Mohapatra, both aged 12.
The community has been left in a state of shock and grief following the incident.
The boys went missing after leaving their tuition classes, prompting a frantic search by their family members and villagers. The search efforts led to the discovery of one boy’s body in a pond adjacent to the Brahmani Temple. Shortly thereafter, the second boy’s body was found in the same pond.
Local police have initiated a formal investigation into the circumstances surrounding the boys’ deaths. “Our hearts go out to the families of these promising young boys. Our investigation aims to uncover the exact details of this unfortunate accident,” stated a police officer on the scene.
This tragic event has cast a pall over the village, with residents mourning the loss of two young lives.
