In a landmark judgment, the Orissa High Court today directed to prepare a second merit list in a case filed to fill 4,000 more junior teachers’ posts lying vacant in the state.
The High Court clarified in its order that a new cut-off mark be fixed and the second merit list be issued.
The High Court gave such orders after hearing the petition of the aspirants who were earlier denied the appointment.
It is worth mentioning that the first notification was issued to fill 20,000 junior teachers’ posts in the state. The candidates were selected by the Odisha School Education Programme Authority (OSEPA) for the appointment to this post.
However, after a long dispute over this selection, the recruitment process began on the orders of the High Court. Because the High Court had ordered to fill the posts by reducing the cut-off mark.
However, for other reasons, while appointments were made for 20,000 to 16,000 posts, another 4,000 posts are still lying vacant due to various reasons. The candidates who were deprived of the appointment approached the High Court to fill these vacant posts.
