Mayurbhanj: The Odisha Vigilance on Friday apprehended the Junior Revenue Assistant in the office of Tahasildar, Jasipur in Mayurbhanj district while demanding and accepting a bribe of Rs 40,000.
According to Vigilance, Junior Revenue Assistant Bhargab Mahakud had demanded the amount from a person in order to process the file in a mutation case for issuance of ROR (Patta) in his favour.
On the basis of the complaint, Vigilance laid a trap and caught Mahakud. The entire bribe money has been recovered from his possession.
Following the trap, simultaneous searches are going on at two locations associated with Mahakud from a disproportionate assets angle. An investigation is in progress against Mahakud.
