Joaquin Niemann added another accolade to his stellar golfing career by winning the LIV Golf Mexico City tournament on Sunday.
With this victory, the Chilean star secured his spot in the prestigious US Open, set to be held at Oakmont in June.
Niemann demonstrated exceptional skill at the Club de Golf Chapultepec, delivering seven birdies and one bogey to finish with a six-under 65. This marks his third win of the season, following triumphs in Singapore and Adelaide.
“I’m pretty happy,” Niemann said after the win, reflecting on his achievement that earned him direct entry into the US Open without needing to qualify. Starting two strokes behind overnight leader Bryson DeChambeau, Niemann outperformed DeChambeau and Australian Cameron Smith in the final group to secure the victory.
Lucas Herbert tied for second with DeChambeau, setting a course record of 10-under par 61. Spain’s Jon Rahm finished fourth and led his team, Legion XIII, to claim the team title.
