Rajgangpur Police apprehended three women from an inter-state robbery gang just hours after they allegedly snatched a vanity bag from a local woman in a crowded marketplace.
The incident occurred around 9 AM near the Rajgangpur Post Office, where Amrita Kulu (30), a resident of Lanjiberna village, was shopping. Three women reportedly approached her near the Municipality Office, pushed her, and snatched her bag after a brief scuffle. Amrita fell to the ground during the altercation, and the accused fled with the bag.
Following a swift complaint filed by Amrita and her husband, Inspector-in-Charge Bijay Kishore Das launched an immediate search operation. SI Rajesh Kumar Sethy and other officers sealed exit routes and conducted a combing operation across the town.
The Police intercepted the accused women at Ranibandh bypass, while they were attempting to flee via bus. Police recovered the stolen vanity bag, which contained:
- Rs 25,500 in cash
- Two mobile phones
- ATM cards from Canada Bank and Punjab National Bank
The arrested women—Bilasi Bai, Suni Bai, and Binita Lohar—are residents of Chhattisgarh. They were booked under Case No. 507/25, with charges under Section 309(6) BNS (3), and have been produced in court.
