IndiGo flight 6E 146, scheduled to operate from Chandigarh to Lucknow, was cancelled on Friday following the pilot’s detection of a technical issue during pre-flight checks.
According to sources cited by ANI, the issue was identified before the aircraft began taxiing, prompting airline authorities to safely deboard all passengers. “The pilot reported a technical snag during standard checks, leading to the flight’s cancellation as a precautionary measure,” the source stated.
The incident comes amid heightened scrutiny over aviation safety in India. Just a day prior, another IndiGo aircraft flying from Guwahati to Chennai made an emergency landing in Bengaluru after a Mayday call triggered by critically low fuel. Meanwhile, an Air India Express flight en route from Delhi to Patna had to divert to Varanasi due to inclement weather.
While passengers expressed inconvenience over the sudden cancellation, many appreciated the proactive step by the airline, underscoring the importance of passenger safety over scheduling.
The Directorate General of Civil Aviation (DGCA) has not yet issued a public statement on the incident. However, the recurrence of in-flight or pre-flight anomalies across carriers has drawn attention to the need for more stringent oversight and preventive maintenance protocols.
