IndiGo and Air India have announced the cancellation of all flights to and from nine key airports in North and West India on Tuesday, May 13, 2025, citing fresh security concerns. The affected airports include Jammu, Amritsar, Chandigarh, Leh, Srinagar, Jodhpur, Jamnagar, Bhuj, and Rajkot.
This move follows a brief resumption of civilian air services after a temporary suspension that began on May 7 due to escalating military tensions between India and Pakistan. While flights had resumed on Monday morning after a ceasefire was declared, renewed concerns over passenger safety prompted the latest cancellations.
IndiGo, in its statement, reiterated that “passenger safety remains its highest priority” and apologized for the disruption. The airline also noted that it is “closely monitoring the situation.” Air India issued a similar statement, confirming the cancellations and stressing its commitment to safeguarding passengers.
These nine airports are among 32 across North, West, and Central India that were previously shut down during the peak of tensions under what was reportedly part of “Operation Sindoor” — India’s coordinated security response. Over 200 flights were impacted during that phase.
Authorities continue to assess the situation, and travelers are advised to check with their airlines for real-time updates.
