The Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) has officially unveiled the 15-member squad for the upcoming Asia Cup T20 tournament, set to take place in Dubai and Abu Dhabi.
Suryakumar Yadav will captain the side, with Shubman Gill appointed as vice-captain. Notably, Shreyas Iyer has been left out of the squad, raising eyebrows among fans and analysts.
This marks India’s first T20I outing since the England series earlier this year and follows the conclusion of IPL 2025, which heavily influenced team selection. The squad features a blend of seasoned campaigners and promising young talent, including Abhishek Sharma, Tilak Varma, and Harshit Rana.
India will kick off their campaign against the UAE on September 10, followed by a high-voltage clash against Pakistan on September 14. The final group stage match will be held in Abu Dhabi against Oman on September 19.
Full Squad:
- Captain: Suryakumar Yadav
- Vice-Captain: Shubman Gill
- Abhishek Sharma, Tilak Varma, Hardik Pandya, Shivam Dube, Axar Patel, Jitesh Sharma (WK), Jasprit Bumrah, Arshdeep Singh, Varun Chakaravarthy, Kuldeep Yadav, Sanju Samson (WK), Harshit Rana, Rinku Singh
The squad reflects a strategic shift toward aggressive middle-order batting and versatile all-rounders, with selectors prioritising IPL performance metrics and fitness benchmarks.
