India Test win Edgbaston

In a defining moment for Indian cricket, the national team secured a commanding 336-run victory over England in the second Test at Edgbaston, rewriting history at a venue where wins had previously eluded them.

With star pacer Jasprit Bumrah absent, the spotlight shifted to the rising force of Akash Deep, who dazzled with a maiden 10-wicket haul across both innings. His relentless pace attack on Day 5 rattled England’s middle order, effectively dashing the host’s hopes of an improbable chase.

Captain Shubman Gill emerged as the series’ linchpin, notching up an extraordinary 430-run match total, including his second consecutive century at Edgbaston. Gill’s composed leadership and aggressive batting defined India’s approach, showcasing a new era of Test resilience.

Despite efforts from England’s Ben Stokes and Jamie Smith, who stitched a gutsy 70-run partnership, India dominated every session. Smith’s half-century and attempted assault on Deep with back-to-back sixes only delayed the inevitable. Deep’s tactical brilliance saw him claim the final wicket, sealing India’s largest-ever away Test win by runs.

With the five-match series now tied 1–1, all eyes turn to Lord’s, where the teams will face off in the pivotal third Test beginning on 10 July.
