New Delhi: India on Wednesday recorded 12,689 new COVID-19 cases in the past 24 hours while 137 more have succumbed to the deadly virus, according to the Union Health Ministry’s data.
The country has now 1,06,89,527 confirmed COVID-19 cases, including 1,53,724 deaths. A total of 1,03,59,305 people have recuperated from COVID-19 so far. There are 1,76,498 active cases in the country, the data stated.
According to the ICMR, a cumulative total of 19,36,13,120 samples have been tested up to January 26 with 5,50,426 samples being tested on Tuesday.
India is currently conducting the world’s largest vaccination drive against Covid-19, administering shots of the Oxford University-AstraZeneca vaccine, Covishield, and Hyderabad-based Bharat Biotech International Limited’s Covaxin.
In the first phase of vaccination, which began on January 16, healthcare workers are being inoculated.
