Namit Malhotra, the visionary CEO of DNEG and founder of Prime Focus, has once again made India proud with a historic win at the 97th Academy Awards. His company, DNEG, secured its eighth Oscar® for Best Visual Effects for its groundbreaking work in Dune: Part Two, further cementing India’s dominance in the global VFX industry.

This latest victory marks India’s seventh Academy Award triumph, reinforcing the country’s growing influence in the world of visual storytelling. The Oscars ceremony, held in Los Angeles, witnessed DNEG’s momentous win, adding another feather to Malhotra’s illustrious cap.

Speaking to a leading news agency after the win, Malhotra emphasized India’s pivotal role in the VFX industry, stating, “The country that does most of the visual effects, more than any other country, is India. There are more Indians working on VFX in major Hollywood films than in Indian films. That is a unique reality we are already in.”
This win continues DNEG’s impressive streak at the Academy Awards, following previous wins for Dune: Part One (2022), Tenet (2021), First Man (2019), Blade Runner 2049 (2018), Ex Machina (2016), Interstellar (2015), and Inception (2011).

Under Malhotra’s leadership, DNEG has revolutionized the VFX landscape, setting new benchmarks for visual storytelling in Hollywood and beyond. With yet another Oscar to its name, the company reaffirms its position as a global powerhouse in the industry. At the same time, Malhotra’s triumph stands as a testament to India’s growing creative and technological prowess on the world stage.
