In a major boost for elementary education in Odisha, the School & Mass Education Department has issued a notification regularising all Junior Teachers (Schematic) who were engaged during the 2023-24 academic session through the due recruitment process and are currently continuing in service.
The teachers will now be absorbed as Assistant Teachers in Level-V(A) of the Elementary Cadre. According to the official order, the regularisation is deemed to have taken effect from the date of their respective joining.
The teachers will receive notional service benefits up to 31 December 2025. From 1 January 2026 onwards, they will be entitled to draw the regular pay scale, salary and all other admissible service benefits applicable to Assistant Teachers in Level-V(A).
The fresh notification explicitly supersedes all previous resolutions and guidelines issued on the subject. The order will be published in an extraordinary issue of the Odisha Gazette for immediate implementation.
On March 20, Chief Minister Mohan Charan Majhi announced the regularisation of all schematic junior teachers (Junior Teacher, Schematic) working on a contract basis.
This decision is expected to bring long-awaited stability and financial security to hundreds of young teachers serving in primary and upper primary schools across the state.
