India set a target of 285 runs for New Zealand after scoring 284-7 in their innings at the ongoing ODI clash.

The highlight of the innings was a stunning century from KL Rahul, who smashed an unbeaten 112 runs off just 92 balls.

India struggled early, slipping to 118-4, but Rahul absorbed the pressure and rebuilt the innings with remarkable composure. He reached his century in 87 balls, marking his 8th ODI hundred overall, his second against New Zealand, and his third while batting at No.5 or lower. It was also his third century as a wicket-keeper, underlining his growing influence in India’s middle order.

Rahul’s knock included calculated stroke play, patience against a tough bowling attack, and acceleration in the final overs. He lifted India’s run rate from below five to nearly six, ensuring the team posted a competitive total despite early setbacks.

India’s innings ended at 284-7, with Rahul single-handedly steering the side to safety and beyond. His performance is already being hailed as one of his finest ODI knocks, showcasing his ability to deliver under pressure.

Now, India’s bowlers face the challenge of defending 285 against New Zealand on a pitch that has tested both batting and bowling units.
