The India Meteorological Department (IMD) has issued orange and yellow warnings for thunderstorms in multiple districts across Odisha.
Due to a cyclonic circulation over Madhya Pradesh, parts of Odisha will experience severe weather conditions, including gusty winds up to 60 kmph, lightning, hailstorms, and heavy rainfall over the coming days.
IMD Issues Orange and Yellow Alerts
The IMD has advised residents to exercise caution as orange warnings are in place for today, predicting intense storms and strong winds in Mayurbhanj, Keonjhar, Balasore, Angul, Nayagarh, Gajapati, Ganjam, and Koraput districts. Yellow warnings for April 16–19 indicate continued thunderstorms with winds up to 50 kmph in various districts, including Keonjhar, Mayurbhanj, and Nabarangapur.
Authorities urge people to take necessary precautions, secure loose objects, and avoid open areas during storms. The IMD recommends staying indoors during severe weather and following updates from official sources.
