Brajrajnagar police achieved a major breakthrough under Operation Netra, seizing three country-made guns and seven live bullets while arresting three accused.
The operation was carried out on Monday following instructions from Jharsuguda SP Gundala Reddy Raghavendra.
Acting on specific intelligence, Brajrajnagar IIC Dhableswar Sahu and his team conducted raids at multiple locations. In the Lamtibahal area, police raided the house of Tushar Pattnayak (24) and recovered one country-made gun. During interrogation, Tushar revealed that two others were also in possession of illegal firearms.
Police then raided Orient Paper Mill Colony and seized two more country-made guns from Saurabh Yadav (21) and Aditya Sharma (19). Both were arrested and produced in court along with Tushar.
At a press briefing held at Brajrajnagar police station on Tuesday evening, SP Gundala Reddy Raghavendra confirmed the arrests and recovery. He said investigations are underway to trace the source of the seized weapons and determine whether they were linked to any criminal activities.
The SP also urged local youth to stay away from unlawful activities and focus on constructive work. He emphasised that the police will continue strict action against illegal arms possession in the region.
The press meet was attended by Brajrajnagar SDPO Chintamani Pradhan, IIC Dhabaleswar Sahu, and other senior officers. Police assured that further details will be shared once the investigation progresses.
