In a significant step towards strengthening healthcare infrastructure in Odisha, a high-level review meeting on the operationalisation of Pabitra Mohan Pradhan Medical College and Hospital was held today under the chairmanship of Health Secretary Aswathy S.

The meeting thoroughly assessed the progress of infrastructure development, academic readiness, and patient care facilities.

Emphasising the need for swift patient services, the Health Secretary directed officials to expedite the shifting of various departments and ensure all essential services become functional at the earliest.

Officials reviewed the availability of modern medical equipment, staff recruitment plans, and streamlined patient management systems. Detailed deliberations were held on providing world-class amenities for MBBS students, including hostels, sports grounds, and campus illumination.

The Secretary instructed all stakeholders to complete pending work within the stipulated timelines. Special attention was given to the progress of laboratories, classrooms, and other critical facilities. She also stressed the importance of uninterrupted power and water supply, along with the establishment of a Sewage Treatment Plant for sustainable operations.

Once fully operational, the medical college and hospital are expected to deliver advanced healthcare services to Talcher and its surrounding regions. Participants expressed confidence that the institution will play a pivotal role in advancing medical education and enhancing the quality of health services across the state.

The meeting was attended by Dr Poma Tudu, Managing Director of Odisha State Medical Corporation Limited; Abdal M. Akhtar, District Collector, Angul; Additional Secretary Bijay Dash, and other senior officials.
