Odisha is currently experiencing scorching temperatures as a heatwave engulfs the state. According to the Indian Meteorological Department (IMD), eight locations recorded maximum temperatures exceeding 40°C today, with Jharsuguda registering the highest at 41.4°C.
Other districts, including Baripada, Sambalpur, Hirakud, Balangir, Titlagarh, Boudh, and Bhadrak, also saw temperatures soaring between 40°C and 41°C.
In addition, several other places, such as Angul, Sundargarh, Bhawanipatna, Sonepur, Paralakhemundi, Dhenkanal, and Rourkela, experienced temperatures near 40°C.
The capital city, Bhubaneswar, recorded a maximum temperature of 38.2°C, while Cuttack reached 37.5°C.
The IMD forecasts that these high temperatures will persist for the next five days without significant changes.
A heatwave warning has been issued for multiple districts, including Jharsuguda, Sonepur, Boudh, Sambalpur, Balangir, Kalahandi, Sundargarh, Bargarh, Kandhamal, and Nuapada, until March 18.
