President Droupadi Murmu, Prime Minister Narendra Modi, and other eminent personalities extended greetings and best wishes to all on the auspicious occasion of Maha Bishuba Sankranti and Odia New Year.
Taking to Twitter, the President wrote, “I extend my heartfelt greetings to the people of Odisha and our Odia brothers and sisters living abroad. Pana Sankranti brings a message of love and peace to our society. This joyful festival also inspires us to work dedicatedly for our country. On this occasion, I wish everyone happiness and prosperity.”
Extending greetings, PM Modi wrote, “Best wishes for Maha Bishuba Pana Sankranti and Odia New Year. May the new year bring abundance of happiness and good health. May all your wishes be fulfilled in the coming year.”
Pana Sankranti marks the Odia New Year celebrated with fervour in Odisha. The festival, also known as Maha Vishuba Sankranti, involves traditional rituals, cultural dances like Danda Nacha, and sharing of ‘Pana’. It unites people through modern digital engagement.
