Hanuman Jayanti 2026 is being celebrated today, April 2, marking the birth anniversary of Lord Hanuman.
Devotees across India are offering prayers, chanting Hanuman Chalisa, and performing Sundar Kand to seek strength and peace.
According to Drik Panchang, Hanuman Jayanti falls on the Purnima tithi of Shukla Paksha in the month of Chaitra. This year, the auspicious puja time began at 7:06 am on April 1 and ends at 7:41 am on April 2.
Fasting rules include taking a vow early in the morning, maintaining purity, and consuming only fruits or milk. Devotees avoid salt, grains, onion, garlic, and non-vegetarian food. Offerings of sindoor, jasmine oil, red flowers, and betel leaves are made to Lord Hanuman. Many wear red or orange clothes, symbolic of devotion.
Puja rituals involve offering marigolds, roses, ladoos, bananas, and halwa. Devotees bathe Hanuman idols with Ganga water, apply jasmine oil, and chant mantras such as Om Anjani Sutaye Namah and Om Ham Hanumate Namah. Temples across the country host bhajans and langars, serving free vegetarian meals.
Hanuman Jayanti holds deep spiritual significance. Lord Hanuman, born to Mata Anjana and Kesari, is revered as Pawan Putra and Rudra Avatar. His childhood tales, including swallowing the Sun, mistaking it for a fruit, highlight his divine powers. The festival celebrates his devotion to Lord Ram and his role as a symbol of strength, humility, and service.
