The trailer of Hai Jawani Toh Ishq Hona Hai is finally out, and it promises a complete family entertainer packed with chaos, confusion and classic David Dhawan-style comedy. Starring Varun Dhawan, Mrunal Thakur and Pooja Hegde, the film appears to blend romance, drama and over-the-top humour into a full-blown laugh riot.
After the sudden cancellation of the grand trailer launch event earlier this week, the makers quietly released the trailer online on Saturday, instantly grabbing fans’ attention.
The trailer opens with romantic scenes between Varun Dhawan and Mrunal Thakur, who play a married couple deeply in love. However, things soon spiral out of control as Mrunal’s character grows frustrated with Varun’s excessive affection and dramatic behaviour.
The reason behind Varun’s over-the-top love turns out to be his desperate wish to become a father. The situation escalates further when the couple lands in court during divorce proceedings.
Amid the emotional chaos, Varun unexpectedly falls for another woman, played by Pooja Hegde. In a hilarious twist, the same man who dreams of becoming a father eventually finds himself fathering children with both women, creating complete confusion in his life.
Adding more drama to the comedy is Jimmy Shergill, who plays Pooja Hegde’s intimidating brother. His aggressive attitude and constant threats towards Varun create several comic moments throughout the trailer.
Meanwhile, Varun and his friend, played by Maniesh Paul, desperately try to stop Mrunal and Pooja from crossing paths, leading to a chain of misunderstandings and hilarious situations.
The trailer also gives a glimpse of Mouni Roy in a quirky role as Varun’s fake mother, adding another layer of madness to the storyline.
The trailer was originally scheduled to launch on May 21 but was abruptly postponed. While the makers cited technical issues, reports suggested the delay was linked to a legal dispute involving the recreated version of the iconic song Chunari Chunari.
Producer Vashu Bhagnani’s Pooja Entertainment reportedly moved court against Tips Music, alleging that the recreated version used in the film was made without permission. The original track featured in Biwi No.1.
Interestingly, the recreated Chunari Chunari can still be heard playing in the background of the newly released trailer.
Tips Music has maintained that it remains the lawful owner of the song rights, while Vashu Bhagnani’s legal team stated that the matter is currently under a “status quo” order issued by the court.
Directed by veteran filmmaker David Dhawan, the film brings back the signature comic style that made several Bollywood entertainers popular over the years.
