A shocking incident unfolded at Remuna’s Srijanga High School when a gun was discovered inside the school bag of a Class 8 student.
The discovery came just days before the scheduled visit of the President to the Remuna Nuapadhi area, raising serious concerns for the police and administration.
According to reports, another student noticed the weapon inside the bag shortly before school closed and alerted teachers. Khantapada police reached the school in plain clothes and attempted to take the student along with the gun. After a prolonged standoff and resistance from locals, police managed to seize the weapon.
The student’s father was summoned to the police station today. Preliminary observations suggest the gun may be a replica, but officials have sent it to the forensic lab for confirmation. Police officer Anurag Mohanty stated that the weapon appeared fake, though lab tests will establish the truth.
The student reportedly claimed he found the gun during immersion of idols at a local festival. Despite this explanation, the presence of the weapon inside a school bag has left other students frightened and parents deeply worried.
The incident has triggered widespread discussions in the village. Questions remain about how the student obtained the gun and why he carried it to school. The school, known for its reputation, now faces scrutiny over student safety.
With two gun-related incidents reported in Remuna within a short span, police and administration remain on high alert ahead of the President’s visit.
