The Odisha government has clarified that the Gopabandhu Sambadika Swasthya Bima Yojana will not be merged with the Ayushman Bharat scheme.
The scheme, which provides medical coverage for journalists, will continue as a separate initiative.
Officials confirmed that journalists already enrolled will remain covered under the existing framework. Those wishing to join afresh may apply through the prescribed process.
The Odisha Union of Journalists (OUJ) expressed gratitude to Chief Minister Mohan Charan Majhi for retaining the scheme independently, noting that it safeguards the interests of media professionals.
