Kishore Kumar Nayak, Retired Forest Range Officer of Digapahandi, Ganjam district, was convicted on September 23, 2025, by the Special Judge, Vigilance, Berhampur, for demanding and accepting a Rs 30,000 bribe from a complainant.


The bribe was solicited to avoid legal action over the seizure of timber from the complainant’s residence.

Odisha Vigilance had earlier charge-sheeted Nayak under Section 13(2) read with 13(1)(d) and Section 7 of the Prevention of Corruption Act, 1988. The court sentenced him to four years of rigorous imprisonment along with a monetary fine. Following the verdict, Nayak was taken into judicial custody to serve his sentence.

The Vigilance Department has announced that it will now initiate proceedings to stop Nayak’s pension, citing his conviction as grounds for disciplinary action.

This case underscores Odisha Vigilance’s continued efforts to combat corruption and uphold accountability within public service.
