Rourkela: Police on Sunday apprehended 12 persons indulging in gambling at a hotel near Raghunathpali police station and seized huge amount of betting cash from them here in the city.
Acting on a tip -off, a team of police carried out raid at hotel ‘Rourkela Palace’ and captured 12 gamblers. They have been brought to the police station and are being questioned, police said.
Betting cash of around Rs 13 lakh have been seized from them, they added.
A luxurious car, mobile phones have also been recovered. Panposh SDPO Santanutan Samad has supervised the investigation.
The gamblers are from Rajgangpur, Biramitrapur and some of them also belong to Rourkela, the SDPO said.
Efforts are on to ascertain their personal details, he added.
