Gajapati: Gajapati police have rounded up eight persons including a minor in connection with the kidnapping of a 7-yr old minor boy ‘Hardik’.
The rescued boy belongs to Kumuti Sahi of Kashinagar. Besides, the arrested accused were forwarded to court on Sunday, said Gajapati police.
Gajapati SP Tapan Kumar Patnaik told reporters that the accused persons had kidnapped Hardik on December 16 and demanded Rs 50 lakh as ransom. However, the ransom money was later bargained to Rs 7.5 lakh. The minor boy was later released at the under construction godown of his father.
Those arrested are identified as K Chaitanya, G Kalyan Kumar, Prashant Lingma, Binod Lingma, Rabi Machha, Jacob Mishala, Purna Chandra Saura and a juvenile. All the accused belonged to Kashinagar block.
Police sources said the accused persons kidnapped Hardik with the sole intention of getting rich overnight.
